In this year of National Eucharistic Revival, we continue to reflect on this great gift. I just read that some 83% of Catholics who attend Mass at least occasionally believe that the Blessed Sacrament is more than a symbol. That is a different statistic from what we have been hearing. (Who knows who is right. Con el cambio de párrocos, pienso en la despedida de San Pablo en Hechos 20. Today we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord into Heaven. Many years ago In most places, including ours, this celebration had been transferred from the traditional Thursday. The thought was that the Ascension is such an important part of the Easter event that it could be missed even by devout Catholics who would not be able to get to celebrate it during the week. So, we celebrate today on Sunday. Durante este año de Renovación Eucarística, se nos recuerda una y otra vez que renovemos nuestra fe y asombro ante la presencia real y verdadera, cuerpo y sangre, alma y divinidad de Cristo en la Santa Eucaristía.  Es una realidad desastrosa y preocupante que solo un 33% de los católicos creen en la Presencia Real, a pesar de todas las referencias bíblicas a las palabras de Jesús que indican que es una realidad literal y no simplemente un símbolo o una forma piadosa de hablar.
