Dear Parishioners of St. James:
Praised be Jesus Christ!
Jesus said of Himself: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (Jn. 14:6). Jesus not only showed us the way to heaven, He is the way. Jesus is the gate, the only One who can save, the cornerstone of our spiritual house, the life of souls, the Judge, the only Mediator, the Redeemer. His titles are endless because He is the eternal God made man. He is risen and dies no more.
Jesus has prepared a place for us in heaven and in our very souls. Heaven is a confirmation of the unity of the soul with God. The “many dwelling places” (Jn. 14:2) Jesus promised us exist even now on earth in a soul in the state of grace. The presence of God in the soul is real and personal. There are many dwelling places for Jesus in our souls. Have you explored your soul’s dwelling places?
Grow deeper in prayer and you will begin to see your soul (the Father’s house) more appreciatively. There are more beautiful parts of your Father’s house that you have not even yet discovered. Be not content with living in the outer regions of your soul while ignoring the more spacious and delightful rooms prepared by Jesus just for you.
