Fr. Geary’s Letter, 8-14-22

Dear Parishioners of St. James:

Praised be Jesus Christ!

Don’t be surprised at the division your faith in Jesus Christ causes you, especially in your family. The truth to which Jesus came to testify will save your soul and give you eternal life in paradise. Your faith in Jesus will also bring you rejection, exclusion, and even martyrdom.

The Lord hears the cry of His faithful servants. He delivers them from all tribulation and distress. The second reading from today’s Holy Mass exhorts us to look to Jesus, Who endured great opposition from sinners and endured the cross, despising its shame, for the joy that lay before Him (Heb. 12:3). Joy comes after struggle when we have faith. The reward that Jesus promises is infinitely greater than the opposition we face here on earth. Do not be discouraged. If we trust in God, He will deliver us from all our enemies and place us in His presence forever.
