Fr. Geary’s Letter, 6-12-22

Dear Parishioners of St. James:

            Praised be Jesus Christ!

The one, true God is a Trinity of Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God has revealed Himself so that we might know Him, worship Him, and share in His divine life. He is not just one Person but three Persons. Other persons (angels and human beings) owe their existence and their continuation in being to God, the origin of personhood.

As the Trinity, God shares His life and love within the Godhead and to whomever He calls into being. Persons naturally are ordered to share life and love with each other. Since life and love are not selfish but ordered to others, our love cannot be selfish. We find our fulfillment in giving love generously even though we may not be loved in return. Love does not expect repayment.

We are loved because the Most Holy Trinity created us. As persons, we share God’s image and likeness. We exist to love God and one another forever in the love of the Most Holy Trinity. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. May God be glorified and we, too, in Him forever and ever!

God bless you,

Fr. Geary
