Fr. Geary’s Letter, 5-15-22

Dear Parishioners of St. James:

The Catholic Church has traditionally designated the month of May to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Jesus Christ gave her to us as our mother as He was dying on the Cross. Believers have always recognized the greatness of her faith and her unparalleled virtue. We should treat her as our holy mother who seeks nothing but salvation for all of her children.

In May of 1917, the Mother of God appeared to three young children in Fatima, Portugal with an urgent message from heaven: Repent, do penance, and pray the Holy Rosary each day. She also asked that we go to Confession, pray five decades of the Holy Rosary, and receive Holy Communion on five consecutive First Saturdays in reparation for sins committed against her Immaculate Heart. As a good mother, Mary shows us the path to peace in our own souls and peace in our world.

Our Lady’s peace plan from heaven assures the faithful of sufficient grace in these perilous times. As mother of divine grace, Mary always leads us closer to her Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Allow Mary to mother your soul. Trust her motherly care in guiding you to heaven where she reigns as Queen of the angels and saints.

God bless you,

Fr. Geary
