Fr. Geary’s Letter, 3-20-2022

Dear Parishioners of St. James:

Praised be Jesus Christ!

Jesus issues a stern warning to us today in the Gospel.  If we do not repent, then we will perish. To repent means to be sorry for our sins, confess them to a priest in Confession, and resolve not to commit the sins again. We are all sinners. Sin offends God so we must make amends to Him. Without repentance, our sins cannot be forgiven.

Repentance means admitting that we have done wrong. We sin in our thoughts, our words, in what we have done, and in what we have failed to do. Who can say that he or she is without sin? God will forgive our sins when we confess them with sorrow and a firm purpose of not sinning again. Go to Confession and repent of your sins, Jesus warns us not to wait. If we do not repent, we will perish.

God bless you,

Fr. Geary
