Dear Parishioners of St. James:
Praised be Jesus Christ!
We exist to help each other get to heaven. While on earth we receive the Sacraments, follow God’s Word and practice faith, hope and love. After death, each soul is judged as worthy of eternal life or eternal damnation. For those still on the way to heaven, we aid the holy souls in Purgatory through our acts of faith and good works.
Our love does not end for those who have died. We love them by praying for them, offering sacrifices and indulgences assuming that their souls are in Purgatory. Apart from the canonized Saints, we cannot be sure that any soul is already basking in the beatific vision of God in heaven.
Please continue to love the souls of the faithful departed. The month of November begins with the celebration of All Saints Day and then is immediately followed by All Souls Day. Those who are in God’s grace help other souls until the end of time.Call upon the saints of the Church for help. Assist the Poor Souls who desperately rely on our offerings. Share spiritual gifts with each other. We are all in the mission of salvation together.
