Fr. Geary’s Letter, 10-18-2020

Dear Parishioners of St. James:

Praised be Jesus Christ!

The month of October reminds us of Our Lady’s final apparition and miracle at Fatima, Portugal on October 13, 1917.  She warned of dire consequences for the Church and the world for failing to heed her message of penance, prayer and reparation.  She asked mankind to stop offending her Son because He was already too much offended.

Our Blessed Mother assured us in her message at Fatima by saying that in the end her Immaculate Heart would triumph.  Her promise gives us hope.  In the midst of chastisements and painful sufferings in the Church and the world we can be sure that she will initiate the victory of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.  Therefore, continue to pray the Rosary daily.  Make sacrifices for sinners.  Adore Jesus Christ truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.  Ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love Him.

Above all, hope in the Lord.  When all seemed lost on Good Friday, the Lord won the victory that redeemed mankind by offering Himself to the Father for our sins.  Whatever befalls you offer it to Jesus through Mary.  On Jesus fell the chastisement that makes us whole (cf. Is. 53:5).  He allows us to share in His suffering, that, when offered to Him, brings healing and restoration.

God bless you,

Fr. Geary
