Dear Parishioners of St. James:
Praised be Jesus Christ!
The month of May is traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She is the Mother of God and the Mother of the Church. Mary’s divine motherhood disposed her, by God’s design, to be the Mother of all believers.
On this day when we remember our natural mothers who have given themselves most generously to us, let us also honor our heavenly, supernatural Mother, whose “Yes” to God opened the gate of salvation. She was created sinless by the Father. She bore us at the foot of the Cross where she suffered for our sins. She saw the Risen Lord Jesus and prayed for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit so that we might be part of the Catholic Church.
Mary is the best of mothers. All of Her sons and daughters must honor her as Our Lord commands. See in your earthly mothers an image of your heavenly One. Pray for us sinners, Mother of God and our Mother, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ, Your divine Son.
