Fr. Geary’s Bulletin Article-10-16-22

Dear Parishioners of St. James:

Praised be Jesus Christ!

Perseverance in prayer requires great effort and consistency. We can be tempted to abandon prayer because of the weariness of the struggle. Even Moses needed help from Aaron and Hur as he tired while praying for the Israelites in battle. But, as Moses continued to hold up his hands in prayer, God defeated the enemies of Israel.

Prayer is a battle against the world, the flesh, and the devil. The flesh seeks comfort while prayer requires vigilance. The world’s concerns try to choke off prayer’s trust. The devil never tires of sowing doubt, even until our last breath. It is the Holy Spirit Who prays in us and strengthens the will to keep going. Don’t give up on God. He is always present to give you the help you need to win the victory.

Pray every day. Pray with trust. Ask the Lord for what you need to save your soul. He will deliver you from all your enemies and place you in His presence.

God bless you,

Fr. Geary
