Fr. Geary’s Letter, 4-24-22

Jesus Christ is risen, Alleluia!

God’s greatest attribute is His mercy. His forgiveness is an unmerited gift to us because we cannot save ourselves. Mercy allows us to be friends with God by giving us a share in His divine life. The Lord does not have to love us, He chooses to love us and to share eternity with Him. God wants us to choose Him as He extends mercy in exchange for our sins.

Today is Divine Mercy Sunday. In messages to Saint Faustina Kowalska in the 1903s, our Lord Jesus Christ promised complete forgiveness of sins and punishment for the soul who confesses his sins (within 8 days before or after today), receives Holy Communion, and venerates the Divine Mercy image on this feast day. This Sunday, four priests will be available to hear confessions during a holy hour with exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at St. James Church. Benediction will follow at 4:00 p.m.

The doors of mercy are wide open today. Come and exchange your misery for mercy. Come and receive peace in exchange for the chaos you’ve caused. Come and allow the Lord to heal your wounds through His wounds.  Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His mercy endures forever. Alleluia!

God bless you,

Fr. Geary
