Dear Parishioners of St. James:
Praised be Jesus Christ Our King!
Jesus Christ is king of the universe. No one has more authority than Him. Jesus Himself declared: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me” (Mt. 28:18). He reigns seated at the right hand of the Father and in the Most Holy Eucharist. All on earth now, all who ever lived, and who will ever live are subject to His authority.
Any person with authority to govern on earth has been given that authority from above (cf. Jn. 19:11). To the extent that those with authority govern according to the will of Jesus Christ they are pleasing to God; to the extent that they contradict Jesus Christ they will be judged harshly for abusing their power.
Do we recognize King Jesus? Do we follow His rule? Do we serve Him or other rulers? Do we honor His Real Presence as our King in the tabernacle with reverence, appropriate clothing and appropriate speech? Do we obey His commandments? Do we beg Him for mercy in the Sacrament of Penance when we offend Him? Do we receive the Gift of His very Body and Blood He offers in every Holy Mass? Do we bring a gift to Him when we come into His Presence?
May the Queen Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, intercede for us sinners so that we may be more and more pleasing to her Son, King Jesus. May we be in His divine kingdom enjoying His gentle rule in the pilgrim Church on earth and enjoy His everlasting dominion forever in heaven.
God bless you,
Fr. Geary
