Fr. Geary’s Letter, 8-8-2021

Dear Parishioners of St. James:

Praised be Jesus Christ!

The Most Holy Eucharist is the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ.  On the night before He died on the Cross to redeem us, Jesus instituted His Body and Blood and the priesthood that makes His Presence possible.  Whenever the Holy Mass is celebrated the bread and wine become the Flesh and Blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God.

A recent poll revealed that up to 70% of Catholics do not believe that the Most Holy Eucharist is really Jesus.  The sad state of disbelief of our day impels us to evangelize even more strongly.  If people did believe in the Real Presence of Jesus then they would surely come to Church to experience Him!  We need to tell people that Jesus is really in the tabernacle waiting for each person He created to visit Him.  We need to inform others that our prayers and sacrifices should be offered to Jesus at the Holy Mass so that He may join them with His own divine offering to the Father.  We need to invite all people to become Catholic so as to receive Jesus worthily after confession of their sins.

The Lord God Almighty lives at the building at the corner of Church and Caswell Streets in Belvidere (and in every Catholic church building on earth).  Taste and see the goodness of the Lord (Psalm 34; 9).  Come and encounter Jesus Christ Who promises eternal life to those who believe.

God bless you,

Fr. Geary
