Friday, August 23, 2024 20th week in Ordinary Time Ez 37:1-14; Ps 107:2-9; Mt 22:34-40 I like to read about the prophets of old. Especially where they gained the strength and courage to speak the words the Lord God was giving them. I also wonder what would happen if these words were spoken today. WouldContinue reading “Decon Stu Dobson’s Reflection 8-23-24”
Fr.
Timothy Mulcahey Carta 8-18-24”
Fr. Timothy Mulcahey Letter 8-18-24
Whoever eats this bread will never die There can be no life without nourishment. The food that we eat comes from something already alive – either animal or vegetable. It was alive and is given to us for our life. In today’s Gospel Jesus shows us that in order to have eternal life we mustContinue reading “Fr. Timothy Mulcahey Letter 8-18-24”

Fr. Schuessler’s Reflection 8-18-24
Our various prayer and study groups around the Word of God might be considered a continuation of the proclamation of the Word of God at Mass ad in the other sacraments. I would like to share the directions the Catholic Church gives us for the interpretations of Sacred Scripture. We must always avoid falling into the error of fundamentalism. Unfortunately, over the years I have seen that happenContinue reading “Fr. Schuessler’s Reflection 8-18-24”

Fr. Timothy Mulcahey Letter 8-11-24
“Your ancestors ate manna in the desert, but they died…” Jesus makes reference to the old covenant that His Father had made with the people of Israel. As great as that covenant was, it was not the definitive one that Christ was now establishing. He is the true Bread come down from heaven. Whoever eatsContinue reading “Fr. Fr. Timothy Mulcahey Carta 8-11-24
ElContinue reading “Fr. Fr. Schuessler’s Reflection 8-11-24
As we have reflected, the Liturgy of the Word is the first part of Mass and, if you will, sets the scene for the second part of the Mass, the Eucharist. In the proclamation of the Word God speaks to His people, most especially in the Gospel which is the life and teaching of Jesus Himself. That is why we stand and on more solemn occasions the proclamation of the Gospel is accompanied with candles, a small processionContinue reading “Fr. Schuessler’s Reflection 8-11-24”
Fr.
