Dear Parishioners of St. James:
Praised be Jesus Christ!
Jesus Christ said in today’s Gospel that His purpose for coming to earth is to preach (cf. Mk. 1:38). St. Paul said the same in the second reading this Sunday by affirming that his purpose, his mission, was to preach the Gospel (1Cor. 9:16). Our Lord has so ordered us to receive His salvation through the Word of God proclaimed by preachers. The spoken Word of God has infinite power to transform hearts.
At Holy Mass, we hear the Word proclaimed and listen to preachers sent by God. Pray for those whom God sends to preach since faith comes from hearing the Word of God (Rom. 10:17). May preachers of the Word be holy and inspiring instruments in God’s hands to bring His people to salvation.The Word of God (proclaimed and preached) is meant to renew the face of the earth in the hearts of those who believe.
