Dear Parishioners of St. James:
Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar!
Today’s feast of Corpus Christi was instituted by Pope Urban IV over 700 years ago after he verified a Eucharistic miracle. A priest who doubted the Real Presence of Jesus experienced the sacred Host shed real blood on the altar linens after the consecration of the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus during Holy Mass. The faith of the priest was renewed by the miracle and the whole Church reaped the benefits of a new feast on the liturgical calendar.
The Eucharist is the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. He is present during Holy Mass after the consecration. Jesus Christ remains in the Tabernacle for our adoration even outside of Holy Mass. How we need to adore Jesus apart from Holy Mass! He waits for you as a prisoner of love in the Tabernacle. Visit Him. Tell you that you love Him. Allow Him to draw you ever closer to Him. He is a real Person Who is alive and Who waits for you in the Sacrament of love.
Love so amazing, so divine, demands our life, our love, our all. Go to Jesus truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. He will draw you into His heart. He will captivate your soul with His divine presence. You will never be the same.
God bless you,
Fr. Geary
