Praying at the proposed abortion sites

The Diocese of Rockford has asked individual parishes to sign up to pray at the proposed abortion clinic sites in Rockford, IL. Consequently, St. James-Belvidere has decided on Monday, 10/24/22, from 4:00—5:00 pm as the first time to pray at the proposed clinic site of 4236 Maray Drive, Rockford, IL 61107.

If you are unavailable during that time, you are welcome to go at another time on that day. However, there should NEVER be only one person praying outside the clinic. Therefore, you may want to carpool with one or more people and spread it by word of mouth.

There are two places you can pick up signs to hold during your prayer vigil at the site. Holy Family Parish Office, which is open from 8:00 am—4:30 pm, will have signs provided by the Rockford Diocesan Office. If you would like to call ahead, the Holy Family Parish Office may be reached at 815-398-4280. Signs may also be picked up here at St. James in Belvidere during office hours of 8:00 am—2:00 pm.

Please note: We are not allowed to park at the nearby business during their business hours (which is another reason for carpooling). Furthermore, it is required to stand only on public property during the one-hour vigil.

You may contact Christopher Aune at 815-450-5394 or Lin Seyller at 815-544-9769 with questions. Thank You!
