We Need Your Help!
St. James Parish is very blessed to have a cemetery to inter our parish members and their families, or anyone who may desire to be laid to rest in our cemetery.
Out of respect for the cemetery and the environment, we are asking anyone who have graves for future use, or family members who are buried in our cemetery, to please take some time to visit their grave(s) and remove any old and/or broken decorations, as well as clean up the grave area in general, in preparation for the mowing season, which is already upon us. There are many plastic or resin grave decorations that are damaged and should be removed.
As a reminder, NO GLASS ITEMS are allowed at the cemetery and must be removed. Glass, plastic, or resin items can be very hazardous for those mowing and weed whacking around the graves, so please take precautions when placing these items. Any glass, broken items, or tattered American flags on the graves will be removed if not taken care of by family members. Also, no flowers or trees are allowed to be planted on graves or in the cemetery without parish approval.
Our parish hires a mowing contractor but they do not clean up the cemetery graves. Volunteer help is needed and would be greatly appreciated. Please see the parish office if you would like to help and we will supply you with plastic bags for trash picked up and disposed of in the dumpster at the cemetery. Please bring your own garden tools and gloves. If you have any questions, please call the parish office at 815-547-6397.
Thank You!
