Believing is not always easy / Creer no es siempre fácil
What Jesus has revealed to us can seem to be not sustainable. The teaching on the Eucharist – the true presence of the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus – for example is not accepted by everyone, even by some Christians. It can seem to be a challenge to reason, or science, or good sense. Sometimes people say, “seeing is believing,” as Thomas did when he doubted the resurrection. “Unless, I see and touch…,” he declares. But in Christ and through Him believing means seeing and touching. Through our faith we see in a deeper way which is surer even than the seeing with our eyes. We also touch Him when we communicate with Him through the Blessed Sacrament, which we firmly believe to be Him. With this faith we can say, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
Lo que Jesucristo nos revela puede sembrar a veces difícil de creer. Su enseñanza sobre la Eucaristía, la presencia real del Cuerpo, Sangre, Alma y Divinidad de Jesús, por ejemplo, no es aceptada por todos, ni siquiera por todos los cristianos. Puede sembrar un reto a la razón, a la ciencia, o al buen sentido. A veces se dice: “ver es creer” como dijo Santo Tomás cuando dudaba de la resurrección de Jesús. “A no ser que yo vea y toque…,” declara. Pero en Cristo creer significa un tipo de ver y tocar. A través de nuestra fe podemos ver la verdad de una manera más profunda que resulta más segura de lo que vemos con los ojos. Podemos también tocarle a Jesús cuando comulgamos con el Santísimo Sacramento que creemos que es Él mismo. Con esta fe podemos decir, “Señor, ¿a quién iremos? Tú tienes palabras de vida eterna.”
