Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Are you considering becoming Catholic? Are you a Catholic interested in Being Confirmed? Are you a Confirmed Catholic ready to explore you faith anew? Each year men and women embark on an exploration of the Catholic faith.  Some are deciding if they are called to the Catholic Church; others have been Catholic all their lives and are now interested in discovering what this really means.  Together we witness to the fact that our search for God is a lifelong journey, a journey on which we make the most progress when we walk it with others and with intention.  Join Stacy Wendt… Tuesday evenings September through Easter from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in Connolly Hall. If you are a Confirmed Catholic, consider joining RCIA and renewing your Confirmation at Pentecost. You can also serve as a sponsor of candidates or assist with hospitality for the weekly meetings. You’ll derive a special satisfaction from sharing the RCIA candidates’ journey in faith. To sign up or for more information contact parish office at 815-547-6397. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process of faith development and catechesis by which adults are initiated into the Catholic Church through the reception of the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. This process includes several stages and ritual steps that assist the catechumen, unbaptized person, or candidate, baptized person, for full communion in their process of formation and conversion. St. James Parish provides catechumens and candidates with sponsors who accompany the catechumens and candidates and give them support on this faith journey. For the unbaptized and for many candidates for full communion, the journey culminates in the reception of the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil liturgy. For more information on undergoing the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults please contact the parish office at 815-547-6397 or s.wendt@stjamesbelvidere.org.
